| Item Description | A narrative describing Socoa (later Thiers), a French, steel 3-masted bounty ship built in 1901 that wrecked at Cadgwith, Lizard while carrying barrels of cement to San Francisco to help rebuild the city after the 1906 earthquake. The ship was salvaged, repaired, sold, and renamed Thiers. As Thiers it continued to sail under the French flag until laid up in 1921. Thiers was sold to the breakers in 1927. |
